new interest

The other day I was looking through the newspaper ads and he was sitting in his red chair next to me.
He grabbed one ad then....
Ripping and throwing paper has become a favorite activity!
 Magazines are pretty great too!
US Weekly, ESPN, Better Homes and Gardens...They all work for me!
Oops! Did you want to read that?!

a few favorites for mommy & baby

Target nursing tanks- I wear these every night.  They are comfy and easy for middle of the night feedings.  I have a pink and black one and they are a little small in the chest, but I  have one with buttons, like the picture and it is roomier and much more comfortable.  I totally recommend these.

Nap Nanny (again!)  I think I've written about this three times now! I seriously can't say enough about how much we love and use this thing...still!  This has now become a safe place for him to sit (all buckled in) while I shower or dry my hair, get dressed etc.  He's totally content and looks pretty comfy in it, playing with a toy while I put away my clothes or run on the treadmill.  I feel comfortable having him in it and the best thing...he's strapped in and can't move all around!  I know there's all kinds of lawsuits against this but apparently you can still buy them at a few places.  So I totally say...GO GET ONE!  Follow the directions, of course.
2 weeks old & almost 9 months old
Inglesina chair- Carter got this for Christmas and it has been such a great addition to our kitchen!  We attached it to our counter so that he can sit in it and still see everything I'm doing (because, he has to be in the action at all times, of course!).  He will sit in this while I cook, bake, clean the kitchen, eat lunch, etc.  We've been feeding him in it too...but he turns around and gets food all over it, so it's kind of caked on with baby food. yuck!  But the good thing is it's machine washable!

Le Mystere Sexy Mama Nursing Bra- Here we are 8 and a half months later and I finally got a supportive and pretty nursing bra.  I've been living in the two that I bought since June and we'll be honest, although functional, they aren't the most supportive or attractive bras...and wearing them every day and washing them in the washing machine probably hasn't helped.  So the other day I randomly saw this bra on amazon.  I tried it on at Nordstrom when I started shopping for nursing bras but I just couldn't justify spending $70 on it.  But good news...on amazon the other day it was only $40 and they had my size!  It's amazing how much better I feel with some good support!

time for a nap, sweet boy

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

the last few posts have been lighthearted and funny, but let's be honest.  things just got real.

Carter is right on schedule, apparently for the "8 month sleep regression".  On his 8 month b-day it all went wrong...the standing, the walking, the crawling- creating the not-napping, the 4am wake ups, the fighting and climbing me and the hair pulling...all because he doesn't want to take a freaking nap?!  I mean, I'm so happy that he's progressing and making these huge milestones and growing so much...but at the cost of no longer sleeping.  ugh!

And now he knows where the monitor is and pulls it down when he doesn't want to be in the crib! AH!

But then I get him and we come downstairs and things are peachy again- smiles and giggles and talking and non-stop walking-back and forth in the living room twenty-three-times-in-a-row.  I freaking love him so much and can't get enough of him but really...

sometimes you need to take a nap, sweet boy.  momma needs a break. :)

just taking a midnight stroll...

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Last night I woke up just as Carter was taking a little midnight stroll...then a 2:30am jaunt, followed by a 6:00am walk around the crib.  Oh Carter!!!!

hold your breath....it's naptime

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Naptime has become a challenge again.  Every day it's touch & go.  Will he go to sleep?  Stay asleep? Start climbing?!

This was naptime yesterday...8:30am- exhausted, rubbing his eyes, yawning.  We read our books, I sang my songs and placed him in his crib.  He cried and rolled around for a few minutes and before you know it, he was laughing happily as he pulled himself up to standing.  Then he started walking the perimeter of the crib.  I went in giving up hope that he was going to put himself to sleep and found him playing with the cord to the monitor (ah!).  So I nursed him.  He fell asleep, I put him down.  Big sigh of relief.  10 minutes later he's climbing the side of the crib.  wtf!

Is this really happening again!?!

grateful

Friday, January 11, 2013

I recently made the decision to stay home with Carter for the rest of the school year instead of going back at the end of January.  I am so grateful for this time with him.  Yesterday it was sunny and warmer and we didn't have much going on so we took a car ride to a cupcake bakery.

I'm just enjoying this time and the fact that we can take an afternoon to get cupcakes.
 So grateful :)

"This new standing thing is exhausting me"

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

My husband and bff got that text from me this morning after I put Carter down for his morning nap
and saw this on the monitor...
What you can't hear is the screaming.

 oh man.
This kid is OBSESSED with standing and will have nothing but standing and walking
 all day, every day.

Oh, those few relaxing weeks of contently sitting and playing while I sipped on my coffee...
are now just a distant memory.

favorite toys- 7 & 8 months

Sunday, January 6, 2013

Fisher Price Penguin- This has been a fav for a few months.  She's hilarious, you touch her and she wobbles and squeals!  Carter thinks she's hysterical!

Plan Dancing Alligator-  Carter got this for Christmas and loves watching him move and chasing it in his walker.  The clicking sounds make him laugh too!

Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Learning Table- (This one is similar)Obsessed!  He freaking loves this table.  Regardless of what we try to play with him, he walks over to this table and spends hours turning the wheel and hitting the buttons.  He loves standing and kneeling at it, but also figured out how to slant it while he's sitting.

Gnon- Gnon is Sophie's cousin and he is hilarious!  We take Gnon with us in the car and Carter loves how his head swings around and makes funny squeaking noises!

V-Tech Sit and Stand walker- He spends alot of time sitting and playing with the buttons on the front and also pushes it as he practices walking!

Other favorite toys are here:
5 & 6 months

happy new year!

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

Last night we celebrated the new year at my friend's house, with an early "midnight" for the kids, then an adult dinner and drinks after bedtime.  It was the perfect end to 2012 and start to 2013.

This seems like a good place to put my new year's resolution-------------> Learn to use our camera!  Enough of the terrible lighting & blurry pics!!!

It's hard to believe 2012 is over.  Carter's birth year...done.  What a memorable year for us.  How blessed and grateful we are to have him in our life.
