Florida: Thursday

Thursday, March 28, 2013

When we arrived to West Palm Beach we went to my sister's house for lunch by the pool.  It was 75 degrees, super sunny, and not a cloud in the sky.  Does it get any better than that?!?!  Carter's fair skin glowed in the sun (he can thank his momma for his milky-white complexion!) and he basked in the sunshine in his short-sleeved shirt and bare feet!

This is where his obsession with palm trees started!  He pointed at them all weekend.

We dipped his feet in the pool that day, but the water was a little too chilly for a swim!

What a wonderful beginning to our trip!

Carter's first time on an airplane

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

We just returned from a long (not long enough) weekend with my family in Florida.  We had so much fun, and so many "firsts" for Carter.  On Wednesday, after work we drove to Baltimore to stay at a hotel near the airport.  The drive didn't go so well (lots of screaming and mommy-entertaining).
socks & shoes come off immediately, whenever possible!
But when we arrived, he loved the hotel.  He was happy as could be exploring and checking it all out! We brought along his pack n play and got a suite so we had separate rooms.  In the morning we had breakfast downstairs with all the business people and he loved that too.  Then off we headed to the airport.

Waiting and watching while dad parked the car

about to board his first flight
we read lots of books
played on the ipad

& even took a nap (who is this kid?!)

We really couldn't believe how smoothly the flight went.  He loved it and hardly made a sound, besides laughing and talking!  After about 30 minutes it was time to eat, so I nursed him and he fell right to sleep for 40 minutes.

***Traveling tip---I wore a cotton infinity scarf that was the perfect nursing cover and it made it less noticeable that I was nursing.  Because PS. traveling with a baby on your lap is HOT...we were all sweating.

He even made friends with a bunch of people around us who waved at him and played peek-a-boo!

So happy to be in Florida!!!

The trip home, however, wasn't quite as successful....
It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't exactly a dream either.  Definitely some screaming crying and fussiness.
We didn't make any friends on that trip ;)

shoes

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

We're going to Florida in a few weeks so I've been laying out Carter's outfits (meanwhile, I haven't thought a minute about what I'm wearing, oh how priorities change!)  Luckily we have plenty of summer hand-me-downs from his cousin, Ian so we're pretty much set in the clothes department. (Except of course, the must-haves I've been ordering from babygap, 30% off, come on!) and I can't stop with bathing suits and rash guards!  But one day my mom brought up shoes.

Shoes!  Holy shit, we need shoes!  This kid is practically walking and though socks and Ugg booties have been cutting it lately, I can't have my baby rocking socks and shorts in Florida!  We have one pair of hand me down Crocs, but the moment I put them on, Carter ripped them off.  So...I ordered a pair of converse velcro sneaks that I think will be super cute.  But that's all we got.

Any suggestions for boy shoes? I've been eyeing up some slip-on sneaks and loafers, but although they're cute, not so sure how practical they would be.

Since I've been thinking about shoes, the other day I dug out a Christmas gift, a pair of EMU boots that were too big at Christmas, but we tried them on and now they fit.  So he rocked them on our errands that day!
hey mom, there's something on my feet!!!
I'm so grown up I wear shoes.

windows

Monday, March 4, 2013

The windows.  Windows are a favorite for Carter.  Every time I pick him up from his crib we go over to his window and open the blinds.  He touches the cord with his pointer finger and pulls on it.  And sometimes pulls on the blinds.  Then he looks out the window and looks at the trees and the street below and the birds.

No matter what room we are in he loves looking out of the windows.   He stares with such a glow in his eyes like it's the best thing he's ever seen.

**must start picking up the real camera and not just grabbing my phone for these little photo ops (not that i'd really know what to do with all the light...)
