(Baby #2) Week 12

Saturday, May 31, 2014

(May 20)

How far along: 12ish weeks (At our ultrasound baby was measuring 5-6 days older than my original due date- so I could be 13 weeks- will see what the doctor says at my next appt)
Gender: ????
Weight gain:   +6ish
Maternity clothes: no, but most of my size 0 pants are being retired and a few pairs of jeans won't be making an appearance again.  And I graduated to my 34DDD (from 34Ds and 32DDs)
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: much better!  Getting up twice a night to pee and usually go right back to sleep!  I even took a few naps on the weekends!
Best moment this week: Seeing little baby moving like crazy during my ultrasound on May 8th and heart was beating super fast 176 bpm
Miss anything: not really
Movement: no
Cravings: not really
Queasy or sick: May 11-14 were bad- my most nauseous days (I even skipped my iced coffee) and super tired, but interestingly I looked back at my first pregnancy and I had a few really nauseous days right around 11ish weeks too. Also this week I've been having terrible headaches and tylenol just doesn't do anything.
Looking forward to: The end of school.  My class is sucking out all of my energy- literally.

(baby #2) Week 10

(May 6)

How far along: 10 weeks
Gender: ????
Weight gain:  between +4 and +5 depending on the day
Maternity clothes: nope, but I am starting to eliminate some bras...quadraboob!
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: Much better!  Aside from getting up at least twice a night to pee, I can usually fall right back to sleep.  I don't even need Unisom everynight!  I've been exhausted.  One day my mom picked up Carter from school and I came home and laid on the couch.  It was wonderful.
Best moment this week: Getting mommy and me pictures on Saturday- he was so happy and sweet! And his birthday party was so much fun!  He was sooooo happy!  AND hearing sweet baby's heartbeat on Monday!
Miss anything: a vodka/ cranberry and a hot dog smelled so good the other day
Movement: no
Cravings: pineapple, strawberries, peaches, watermelon, lemonade.  This is crazy to me!  Craving fruit? That's so not me!  My crazy eating has stopped though...I'm not eating as much as a few weeks ago.
Queasy or sick: waves of nausea throughout the day but felt "normal" on May 1-4
Looking forward to: an ultrsound for a more definite due date

(baby #2) week 8

(April 22nd)

How far along: 8 weeks
Gender: ????
Weight gain:  +3 (maybe 4)
Maternity clothes: nope
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: I actually called my doctor and asked if it was ok to take Unisom every night and she assured me that it's ok.  I still try not to but find myself awake at 2am and take 1/4 of a pill.
Best moment this week: Easter!  So much fun with Carter doing egg hunts and beautiful weather!  And our pregnancy reveal to our families!
Miss anything: A glass of wine at our Easter celebrations
Movement: no
Cravings: This week it was a cheesesteak.  McDonalds.  My appetite has increased dramatically.  I'm a little food obsessed and eat a lot.  I still have one iced coffee in the morning.
Queasy or sick:  A few days of putting my head on my desk in the afternoon when my kids are at their special.  In late week 6 I woke up one night sweating and so hot ended up throwing up and not sleeping the rest of the night.  Nauseous throughout most days.  Seltzer, granola bars and grease- and peppermints get me through.
Other symptoms:  My chest is getting bigger by the second.  It's a dead giveaway.

(baby #2) week 6

(April 7th)

How far along: 6 weeks
Gender: ????
Weight gain:  +1
Maternity clothes: nope
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: Unisom has been a life saver!  1/2 a dose and i actually sleep through the night.  I even get right back to sleep if Carter wakes me up!  I'm trying to not take it every night.  I tried sleepytime tea one night but then talked to the doctor and she said chamomile isn't good for pregnancy.
Best moment this week: Finding out I'm immune to fifth's disease!  (Carter might have had it the week before I found out I was pregnant)  And ordering all of Carter's Mickey Mouse birthday stuff from Etsy!
Miss anything: One afternoon I passed a coffee shop and I desperately wanted a latte, but already had one coffee for the day.
Movement: no
Cravings: Every afternoon after school I'm starving!  I just dream of food- chinese food, sushi, five guys...
Queasy or sick: no- knock on wood!
Looking forward to: Some nice spring weather to play outside- enough of the rain!

(Baby #2) Week 4

(March 26th)

How far along: 4 weeks
Gender: ????
Weight gain: starting weight 117
Maternity clothes: nope
Belly button in or out: in
Sleep: Terrible!  Haven't slept in weeks.  Gave up on simply sleep and just bought Unisom- hoping that helps!
Best moment this week: Seeing the positive pregnancy test!  Pretty unexpected!
Miss anything: sleeping!
Movement: no
Cravings: none
Queasy or sick: no- knock on wood!
Looking forward to: getting my blood test back about fifth disease---crossing my fingers I'm immune!  Getting to experience pregnancy again- this time knowing more of what to expect and hopefully enjoy it!

Baby #2 will be arriving in the fall!

I'm due in December with baby #2!  Yesterday I told my Principal and the blog world (click here to see that post)- so it's definitely official now! This weekend I'll post my weekly updates so far.

Over Memorial Day weekend we grilled Kebobs and I made this yummy orzo, sugar snaps, and summer squash side dish.  It is soooooo good!

1 cup granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 TBSP baking soda
4 and 1/2 cups quick oats
3/4 cups chocolate chips

Countdown to summer!!
5 more days with kids & 5 days of meetings are all that stand between me and the summer.  I absolutely cannot wait.  I haven't done a working mom post lately.  But it's been rough, between Carter yelling "no school" and then screaming at drop off and a few very difficult students it has made the last few months pretty painful and I'm unbelievably happy that the end is in sight!

Happy weekend!

Baby #2

Thursday, May 29, 2014

We've got news!!!

Baby #2 is due in December 2014!

We told our families on Easter when I was about 8 weeks.
these are the coconut eggs that I make every year
When we decided we were ready for a baby I got pregnant right away with Carter.  But recently when we felt like we were ready (are we ever really ready?!?!) to try for #2 I wasn't sure what to expect.  I've been sooooooo stressed with school and working mom life, I am a terrible sleeper and weigh at least 13 pounds less than when I was getting pregnant the first time.

After 2 months of "not pregnant" tests, I didn't get upset or frustrated but just continued to believe it would happen when it was supposed to.   On March 26th after school I took a test.  Carter was unrolling an entire roll of toilet paper when I checked the test to see "Pregnant."  I was super surprised!

Not really being prepared for the announcement, I quickly drew a little sign to hang on the door when Christian arrived home.

Here's my pre-bump pic.  I'll probably never be this thin again!

I'm going to try to be better about documenting this pregnancy with some weekly posts.
We're very excited for little baby's arrival in the fall!!!

Five on Friday- May 9

Friday, May 9, 2014

It has been months since I have had the time to link up with the girls (April, Darci, Natasha, and Christina) for Five on Friday.  This week Carter was home with Strep so I actually had a little time during a nap.  Looking forward to the summer when I'll have time to blog again!

Spring flowers and planting
We have this great greenhouse down the street from our house where you drop off your pot, show her some ideas of what you like...come back a few days later and it's planted and put in your trunk for you!

Last year I went with mostly different green plants and a big hot pink lily in the middle, but this year the dahlia's were screaming to me...so we went with hot pink, orange, and red dahlias and a few other plants mixed in.  I love the bright colors!
Carter and I went back to pick up some Dahlias for the grandmothers for Mother's Day!

Carter's 2nd birthday was on Wednesday.   We celebrated on Sunday. (post here)  It was so much fun and it's so hard to believe he's 2!  On the drive to school on Wednesday I thought about where I was 2 years before (birth story here).  It's sad to think that it's been 2 years already.  No matter the pain and all the struggles...I'd go back to relive that day in a heartbeat.

-three-
Last Saturday Carter and I did a Mommy & Me mini session.  Here's a sneak peek.

-four-
Dancing with the Stars, 24, and only a few weeks until the Bachelorette is back!
It's been months since I've actually looked forward to watching something on tv and I'm totally into this season of Dancing with the Stars!  Love Meryl and Max!  Of course my eyes are glued on Jack Bauer and can't wait for a little Bachelorette drama in a few weeks!

-five-
Mother's Day
On Saturday I have a hair appointment in the morning while the boys and my mother in law go downtown to market.  I love it there and will meet up with them for lunch.

Then on Sunday- I'm thinking a little shopping at Nordstrom and a picnic lunch, maybe?!
get these adorable printables at julep
Countdown to Summer...24 more school days.  Can't come soon enough!!!

Oh Two-dles! Carter's 2nd Birthday Party

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

We celebrated Carter's birthday on Sunday with our family and closest friends.  I was so happy that he absolutely loved everything and had such a great time.

He talked about his "Mickey Party" for weeks and has been watching birthday episodes of Mickey and Daniel Tiger on repeat, so he knew what to expect and he didn't even cry when everyone sang to him!  He didn't cry at all and with 20 people in our house that's pretty good!

Last year I made all the decorations, but this year I just don't have the time so I ordered a few on ETSY, made the hanging Mickey banners above the dessert table and bought the pre-made party set at Walmart.

photobomb lower lefthand corner!

one of our games (from Party City) I also made a bean bag toss and we limbo-ed!
Since the party was at 3:00 we just had snacks- soft pretzel bites and dips, fruit, veggies & dip, goldfish, and cake and cupcakes!    We had lemonade (add your own vodka), beer, and water bottles.

all the kids minus Ian- he cried and didn't want to be in the picture, surprisingly that wasn't my kid this time!
Carter had such a blast and we couldn't have been happier!
