Unglamourous baby must haves

Thursday, June 4, 2015

You won't find these on many registries and they aren't cute and exciting.  But these are some everyday things that you need with a baby.

Oxi Clean Baby or Free and Clear Oxi Clean
OxiClean Baby Stain Soaker 3.5 Pounds
I have become a professional laundress.  With the amount that Reid would spit up (and sometimes still does) his clothes and mine would be disgusting and just plain old free and clear detergent would not do the job.  Spit up smell just doesn't come out easily.  I tried so many things and hated using shout and bleach but then I tried OxiClean Baby and it took out the smell and the stains and didn't irritate his skin,  The Baby version is hard to find.  I only got it at Babies R Us but most everywhere else carries the Free kind and that works too.  I had the spray and the powder and used both and they are both great for getting out the smells and stains too!

Saline Spray & Nose Frida
NoseFrida The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator

A winter baby needs this.  We never used this with Carter, but during the dry winter months it was a must have with Reid when he was so stuffy and couldn't breathe through his nose (somehow this always seemed to happen in the middle of the night- figures!

Manual pump

I can probably count the number of times that I used my regular pump on 2 hands.  But my manual pump I use a lot more often.  This just makes emergency pumping situations easier than plugging in the bigger pump.  The nights that Reid has slept for 7-9 hours I wake up and need to pump so the poor boy isn't scared by the fire hydrant-like stream of milk!  So I keep the manual pump by my bed- just in case.  It's super fast and quiet.  I can get 4 ounces in like 5 minutes!  I'll also take this with me when we go overnight somewhere or on vacation.

Cloth Diaper Burp Cloths

We go through burp cloths like it's our job and sure I've got some cute ones from Aden & Anais but we have a bunch of these and they are big and do the job.

BabyGanics Hand Sanitizer
Babyganics Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer, Fragrance Free, On-The-Go, 50 ml (1.69-Ounce), Pump Bottle (Pack of 6)
I have small bottles of this in each car and the moment we get in the car Carter and I use it.  We also have bottles by the changing tables and used to be in the living room too.  It's a foam and doesn't smell or dry out your hands- much recommended!

  1. I need to get a nose frida; I keep hearing amazing things! And I love cloth diapers as burp cloths too; so much more absorbent!
