Hello! Another friday- another link up with Erika and April

We had our kitchen and foyer/stairway painted this week and went with BM storm.  I was nervous it would be too dark but I really love it!  I used to be scared of dark colors but I'm really learning to love them.  We started with Grey Owl in our old house which is very light, then we went to Coventry Grey in our living room which I love too, but Storm was really a risk for me and I'm so glad I went with it!  I also chose a color I never would have imagined for Carter's room- I'll share pics one day soon!

A few months ago I was the lucky winner of a Hooray Everyday store credit.  I couldn't wait to pick something out.  I went with this multi color woolie garland.
Picasso woolie garland
My decorating style is pretty neutral so I love how this gives our living room just a little pop of color and it's perfect for summer!

You can see Coventry Grey in the corner over there!
A few weeks ago I was on the search for comfy flip flops and Jenn suggested Cobians.  I had never heard of them but off to Zappos and Amazon I went.  They had a zillion great reviews!  The only problem is there are so many different styles.  I went with these and so far I'm super happy with them!

I'm still struggling with the bathing suit debacle!  I've ordered and sent back a few already.  So right now I have 2 black one pieces from Target (one from last year and this one from this year.)  Neither are great (or supportive enough) but the black conceals well!  Today this one popped up on my side bar and I think it's adorable---but I'm just not sure the lack of chest support would do me any favors!

Please share with me supportive, cute bathing suits, ladies!!!  I was so excited when I saw Ted Baker had DD/E chest-sized options so I ordered a one piece and two piece and they still didn't fit.

And now just a little life update.  Round 2 of the babysitter went well again this week.  Reid screamed and clung to me at first but after they left for a little walk he was fine!  Again I only had an hour and a half to run some errands but I enjoyed my alone time and when I got home they were smiling and happy!  Next week we'll go for a whole 3 hours!

Carter finished swim lessons and is begging for more.  It's nice that they are 4 days in a row every morning but it takes up our whole morning- so it's debatable whether we'll do another 2 week session.

And a little story to end for all you moms who can commiserate.  Yesterday I had a headache and Reid was extra (is that even possible!) clingy and fussy so he went down for a nap early.  When I came down to take Carter up for quiet time he was hungry (of course, even though he just finished lunch) so I said he could have a few pretzels.  So he got the bag out and I turned my back and he poured the entire (half) bag and salt on the floor (by accident.)  So there's that.  Just what an irritable mom who's ready for naptime silence needed, right?!

Happy weekend!

confessions (link up)

Thursday, June 23, 2016

I'm joining Danielle today for some confessions!  I love reading these so finally I pulled it together to join in!

*I can not stand passwords!  Target Redcard is one of the ones I always forget and what a pain it is!  And the other sites where you need a number and a capital and a special character.  Ugh!  It really gets me angry when it says your new password cannot be any of your last 6 passwords!  How are we ever supposed to remember them!?

*I love online chat customer service!  It's so convenient and so much better than sitting on hold forever.

*I got my belly button pierced when I was 18 and I  just went through a box of things and found my belly button ring!

*I was only half watching the bachelorette on Monday.  It was so boring!

*We've now been back at our home for one month and we still have almost nothing hanging in the downstairs.  I can't commit!

*We have the same 3 dinners almost every week.  It's boring, but it works for now and I can only make so many things while holding a 25 pound toddler on my hip!

*I've been wanting to update my blog and change my design and name.  But I can't come up with a name I like!  And I'm afraid to change the design in case I totally mess it all up!

*I turn 35 on Monday and I don't really care!  I feel like 40 is a big one, but 35- I'm ok with it!

That's it for today!  Hopefully  I'll be back for my usual 5 on Friday tomorrow!

Father's Day Weekend

Monday, June 20, 2016

Father's Day morning Carter woke up with an ear infection (and we found out his tubes from March 2014 are still in!) So off to Urgent Care we went.  3 trips to UC in 3 weeks is too many!!  No more please!!!
Then when we got back we picked up Christian and Reid and headed to Hershey to go to ZooAmerica.  Reid was not into being photographed all day.  So a great Father's Day pic never happened.  Here are some attempts.

Then we headed back to Chocolate World!

And the boys were more interested in the chocolate than a pic, typcial.

On Saturday we celebrated with both of our dads.

Reid celebrated with an ice cream cone!
And we ended our weekend in our back yard playing in the sprinkler and water table.
It was fun, sweet summer weekend!

Five on Friday 6.17.16

Just a few randoms this week and linking up with April and Erika, as usual!

We had a babysitter and nobody cried!  I interviewed 2 girls in our neighborhood and on Wednesday we tried out having one of them come while I drove my mom to an appt.  It was only an hour and a half but both boys were happy!  Of course I was worried the whole time that Reid was screaming and being crazy but he surprised me!  I also went to the bank, the post office, the wine store, and Starbucks. Oh alone time is soooo sweet!  Hoping to schedule a few hours every week!

Over the last 4 days Carter has become much more comfortable and happy at swim lessons.  He went from being the most unsure kid in the pool on Monday to today he was smiling and so happy to show off his new skills!

In our crazy departure from the beach house I've realized we left a lot of things behind so we ran to Gap Kids today and picked up another suit and rash guard for Carter and one for Reid too!

I've been following my Rodan & Fields Reverse directions to a T!  I started about 2 weeks ago and I really like the scrub- my face feels so smooth!  As far as the rest of it- we'll see!

I will say that Christian now makes fun of my "face washing routine!" One night I told him I was going to wash my face and then I'd be ready to start the episode of Bloodline so he was all ready, started the episode and then ended up pausing and restarting when I came out a few minutes later.  Anti-aging takes time!

When we moved into our house I decided we needed a good vacuum cleaner because I was never loving our last Kenmore one.  So we did some research and ended up getting a Shark Rotator at Costco.  It was $199 and had a $40 off promo.

We've never had a bagless vacuum so our minds were blown when we first tried it out.  The disgustingness that came out of our carpets was appalling!  I'm now semi-obsessed with vacuuming.  It doesn't matter how often I vacuum it pulls up gross dust and dirt every time.

I totally recommend a Shark and am all about having little to no carpet in our future homes!

We also got a cordless Dyson for the multiple times a day that I clean the kitchen floor.  I was a little apprehensive at first, but I think we'll keep it.  My friend has the highest model and loves it, we weren't ready to spend that much so we got a more basic model.  It doesn't pick up everything but it does pretty well and has many attachments and can turn into a dust buster too.  It is also clear and bagless so seeing the dirt that it picks up on area rugs etc makes me disgusted too but also makes me keep using it to see how much more I can get!

I just got these tops and have worn both already this week.  I originally ordered them in Small but exchanged for XS.
This top is more sheer than it looks.  I wore a cami under it.  It's fairly long too.

I have it in the red color.  It's longer on me than on the model.  Also I should have worn a cami under it because the embroidery holes showed some bra through them.

We're celebrating all the dads this weekend!  Hope you have a happy weekend!

Life lately: the start of summer

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

It's feeling like summer!  Today it's a cool 75 degrees and sunny and absolutely perfect!

While the boys are napping I just scrolled through my pictures and decided it's time to do a little life lately update!

My mom's surgery was last Tuesday.  I spent some time with her and my dad at the hospital and she stayed overnight.  She'll have a cast for about 6 more weeks and is learning to manage on her knee walker/ scooter.  We've been visiting daily and Carter continues to ask questions about this broken ankle over and over...he's trying to process this whole thing.

We had the best morning at Dutch Wonderland on Thursday with some friends.  It was a morning that we didn't really plan and was kind of last minute and one of those days that we said we'd look back on later in the summer and remember it as one of the best!

Then on Thursday night Christian came home from work and was playing with the boys while I was making dinner.  He was swinging them around and when he put Reid down he came running to me holding his forearm and crying.  We went back and forth about going to Urgent Care (mainly it was me saying we should go and Christian saying we shouldn't...but who's really keeping track?!) but when we realized he wasn't moving his arm and was doing everything with his other arm we all piled in the car to see the Dr.  It was scary and I was envisioning being back at the hospital where I was with my mom the day before- I was envisioning splints and surgeries and not sleeping.  So we were relieved when the Dr. said it sounds like Nursemaid's elbow or a dislocated elbow.  He popped it back in while I held a screaming boy.  But he started moving it right away.  We gave him advil and popsicle and he was back to his happy-go-lucky self!

We celebrated my God-daughter's 5th birthday on Friday with donuts at a new donut shop that opened and then a little cookout on Friday night.  Carter ran around barefoot and had the best time with the big kids and Reid hung mostly with the adults.  It was the most beautiful night and we stayed out until almost 9!  I'm looking forward to a day when we can stay for s'mores around the firepit- maybe next year!

On Saturday it was hot so the boys cooled off by running through the hose and playing at my parent's house.

And I ended the weekend by having a drink outside with a friend on Sunday night.  A little girl time was just what I needed after a difficult day with my little sidekick!

I started our search for a babysitter and have come to really appreciate moving back to our neighborhood.  I'm finding that in this area it's a small little world and I've found connections to these girls from other people I know and I love that.  I "interviewed" 2 girls and feel good about each of them.   Now I just need to make it happen and I won't lie I'm totally nervous about it!

This week Carter started swimming lessons and yesterday he definitely wasn't too sure about it.  I thought it could be a long 2 weeks but today things went better (but containing Reid for those 30 minutes is a challenge!)  And today I realized that his swim coach is one of my former students.  I officially felt old!

And on the homefront: we are slowly making progress on unpacking and getting more settled in.  We aren't parking in the garage yet but it will almost be ready to.  Now the basement- that's a whole other story.  I'm thinking that will be ready by approximately mid October!  This week we have a painter coming to paint the foyer and kitchen.  I'm so happy to be back here- it's definitely home!

And I'm sure I've missed other things- but I hope to be back to blogging a little more frequently soon!

Fri-yay 6.3.16

Friday, June 3, 2016

It's been quite a week.  In a not-so-good way.  Last weekend we went to the beach for Memorial Day and had such a great time.  We were nervous about having Carter, Reid, and their cousin, Ian sleep in the same room, but it actually went really well.

The boys are so excited when we are at the beach house- they just chat non-stop and run around like crazy.  Of course they are up by 6 chatting about what we're doing that day and get in trouble each night because they won't stop talking at bedtime.  Luckily they only woke Reid up once.

Well on Monday night Carter woke up screaming at 11:45 and I rushed in just as he was about to throw up in our hands.  I ran and got the trash can but then Reid woke up and screamed at the commotion.  So I ran to ask my mom to help as I was trying to get Carter to the bathroom.  So my mom rushed to pick up Reid who was screaming while I was with Carter who was throwing up on the bathroom floor.  Then my mom took Reid down (4 stairs) and somehow on the bottom stair her ankle gave out or slipped and she fell.  I heard the boom and ran to see what happened.  The first thing she said was that Reid was ok and I grabbed him but she said it was her ankle.  So we quick got ice and advil and propped her ankle up thinking it was sprained.  I put the boys back to bed (and luckily Carter didn't throw up any more) and then we debated going to the hospital.  We ended up driving home on Tuesday morning and going straight to Urgent Care where they quickly found out that her ankle had 2 fractures.  Now she needs surgery.  And 8 weeks of recovery time.  I feel so terrible that this happened and have replayed the scenario so many times, wishing it could have turned out differently.  Sitting around is not her thing so this is going to be a tough few
weeks.  But we are trying to also keep it in perspective, it could have had a much worse outcome.

Since we were gone for 6 days I forgot what a disaster our house was in when we left.  So this week I've been trying to get our house a little organized and try to help my mom as much as possible while also entertaining these boys.  It's been pretty exhausting!  I think it's time to find a babysitter.  Have you tried  Or how else have you found baby sitters?

And now onto a few randoms for the week:

These smell so good!  Last week they were on sale at Target and they were on the Cartwheel app so they were under $3 each.  I have lemon, grapefruit, and coconut.  Love them all.

This smells so good too!  I just tried squirting some and then using a wet paper towel and it worked great and the smell was wonderful!  I'm over Murphy's oil so this may be the new hardwood cleaner for us!

We don't have granite in this kitchen but I loved this cleaner at our old house.  Carter says it smells like fruit loops.

Summer shoes for boys

I just ordered Natives for both boys and are awaiting their arrival.  Last year I ordered 2 sizes for Carter and neither fit so I'm hoping they work this year.  We have the Old Navy version but am afraid they will give them blisters.  Do your kids get blisters from Natives?  Last year Crocs didn't work for Carter either and I'm over socks and sneakers when it's so hot and we want to rush outside.  Any other suggestions of what your kids love?

comfy flip flops for me

What flip flops do you love that you wear all the time and don't get blisters?  I still wear a few pairs from Old Navy from years ago but they aren't comfy enough to go for a long walk in.  What do you suggest?  I considered these rainbows or these Toms.  I'd love suggestions.

We're hoping to tackle some home projects this weekend like hanging curtains and digging through the disaster of the garage.  And throw in a little fun too, of course.  What else can you do when you have little guys around?!

Happy Weekend!
