Essential Oil Make & Takes

Monday, September 25, 2017

Hey Ladies!  It has been a while!  Lately I've been spending more time on Essential Oils and posting a bunch on my oils IG account @pagmina_essentials.

Yesterday I had another make & take and a few girls messaged me wanting the details.  So here you go!

I've done a bunch of make & takes this year.  So each one is a little different.  This time most of the people I invited had either been to another one already and were interested or I had previously talked to them about oils.

So I eliminated the "class" at the beginning.  In most of my previous m & t's I did a short basics of essential oils class explaining what they are, how to use them, and why Young Living.  I keep it brief because I think most of the girls want to a learn a little, but primarily talk and drink wine.  Just sayin!  I try not to blab on and on!

Also in the past I had 3 specific products for them to make, usually 2 rollers and a spray or a scrub.  But this time I decided to make it much more customizeable.  So I brought out a bunch of my oils and all the supplies to make up diffuser blends, rollers, and a scrub or carpet powder.  Then they chose what the wanted to try or I asked what needs they had and then helped them figure out what to make.

Yesterday was primarily drinking wine, catching up, and making some rollers, scrubs etc-just how we like it!

Here are some pictures!

I wish all of you could come over and drink some wine and mix up some oils because we always have so much fun!  If you are interested but don't live in PA let me know.  I can do a facebook class or talk to you about how amazing oils are and how they have helped our family in so many ways.  I am happy to send you a roller to try too!  Message me and we can figure it out!

The Bachelorette: Lashes and my skincare routine

Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Why is it that I just can't stop with The Bachelorette?!

I barely watched this season but I felt compelled to watch the finale and I couldn't go to bed until I saw who she picked.  I wasn't invested in any of the guys but watching the short time that I did I was all TEAM PETER!!

And my favorite part was during their goodbye and she was bawling so much that her eyelashes fell off.  Because I know it's TV but come on, she was soooo done up every time I saw her and I loved seeing her real lashes and what she really looks like.  And even through the tears I thought she looked so much better after she cried all her makeup and lashes off!

I was thinking R & F girls must be shouting at their TVs trying to get her to use lash boost, because truth be told, her real lashes needed some help.  And I've heard many girls rave about it.

But since I'm trying to use fewer chemicals and don't want to spend $150 for my lashes I've been using an Eyelash Serum ($11.95 on amazon) and Lavender every night.  I brush on a little Majestic Pure eyelash serum oil on my lashes before bed and put a few drops of lavender (which helps with healthy hair growth) in my mascara.

my camera battery was about to die so the blurry pic will have to do!

I finally love my skincare routine and totally recommend the products I'm using so I'm going to share with you in case you want a little change in your routine.  My skin is normal, not oily & not dry.

And this post is in no way sponsored by Aveda, although I would love it to be!  However I am using affiliate links, just FYI!

My facial cleansers:

(keep watching on the price changes a lot it's usually cheaper than in the store!)
My Aveda facialist recommended it and I love it- not drying at all.

I used to use R & F Reverse scrub and I like it but wanted to try the YL scrub since it's half the price.
It smells good and my skin is soft after using it.

Makeup Removing Cloths: Burt's Bees sensitive wipes
(and today they are $2.99- the cheapest I've ever seen them!)

Now the products that I love and look forward to using every day!!!

It's kind of weird that I look forward to my skincare routine but they smell so good- a natural smell, not chemical smell.  I feel so much better not using all the chemicals that are in most skin care and instead using plant-based products.

It's so smooth and I love to apply it first after I was my face.  And the pure-fume oils that are in it smell so good.

It's formulated to help even skintone and brighten your skin.  I definitely have freckles and sun spots so I chose this serum.  There is a Soothe Concentrate for sensitive skin and a Firm concentrate for aging skin (which I need too) but I have been using the Bright and love it!

In the morning I follow that with R & F Soothe SPF 30.  I still use this because a lot of SPF makes my face break out and this doesn't.  And who wants to experiment with that, not me.

If my skin is feeling dry I'll apply Burt's Bees Sensitive day moisturizer.

BUT Aveda just came out with a new Tulasara Morning Creme and I can't wait to get it!  My facialist said that since I love the Tulasara Wedding Masque (more about this in a minute) I will love this!

So I will be getting the morning creme ASAP!

But in the evening after I remove my makeup and use the YL satin mint facial scrub I use the

I love it!  It's thick but not greasy at all.  It brightens and firms and I love the smell.

I had a sample of the AVEDA Tulasara Wedding Masque Eye Cream and loved that too!  But for now I'm just finishing up my R & F multi-function eye cream.

I am looking for a toner to add too.  I still have R & F Reverse but I feel like every time I use it I can taste it- weird right.  That can't be good...

What are your favorite skincare products?

WFPB diet, sunscreen, #Nsale , a little bit of everything

A few things floating around my head this week...

my mom and me in our dresses inspired from designer bags and dirty diapers
Over the weekend we had family beach pictures.  2 two year-olds, 2 five year-olds and 6 adults.  Beach pictures always sound like a good idea, but our little two year-olds were super uncooperative and the wind!  Oh beach hair is never easy!  Hopefully we got a few good pictures because that sweet photographer was so patient as the boys took turns freaking out and being impossible!

One of my friends is finishing her graduate work to become a PA and she's having a week-long facebook group about Whole Food, Plant-Based Diet.  It's been interesting to follow along and learn about this life-style. It's similar to Vegan, no meat, or dairy, but also no refined carbs etc.

I was talking about it with my sister who suggested I watch the Netflix documentary, What the Health.  And now I'm intrigued!  I know this is just one viewpoint, but it is definitely making me think twice about what I'm eating and what I'm giving to my children.

I've always hated cooking (and touching) meat so I'm totally game for eliminating meat.  However my husband, who is currently on a ketogenic diet (eats only meat and cheese etc) disagrees!  He started watching What the Health and the next day my phone was flooded with articles & podcasts disputing it!  But that did not surprise me in the least!

What are your thoughts?

I'm still loving Beauty by Earth sunless tanner and highly recommend it.  It gives me so much color with just one application.  But I do feel that I need to apply every 3-4 days.

I also finally found a sunscreen that I love too.  It was so confusing this summer with all the lists of what sunscreen to use and what not to use etc.  So I went to Trader Joe's to get their highly rated sunscreen spray, but it was sold out so I grabbed the lotion (can't find a link other than ebay!).  LOVE IT!  It is lightweight, rubs in super easily, and not greasy!  I have to stock up!

Are you soooooo over the Nordstrom Sale?!  I absolutely am tired of all the Instastories and blogs about it and I placed a few more orders but did not go crazy in the least...

But if you are interested in my thoughts, here are my hits and misses:

Lush side split tank (super cute and flattering!)
BP Striped long sleeve tee (on the fence- super long, but soft)

Zella top (totally sheer!)
Tory Burch sandals (my feet are too narrow)
Adidas tank (too long!)

Still WAITING to get:
Nikes (for Carter)
Converse (for Carter)
Zella Hoodie (do you know I don't own a hoodie?!)
Nike Tank (hoping this one is better than the Adidas!)

What are you keeping?

Friday Faves: Nordstrom Sale (What I Ordered) and An Essential Oils class

Friday, July 14, 2017

I'm having a Facebook Essential Oils class on Monday 7.17.17 at 8pm EST.  If you are interested in essential oils but not sure where to start then message me or comment below with your e-mail address and I'll add you to the class.  I will post throughout the night on Monday but all of the posts will be available for you to view for 1 week.  Oils have helped my family in so many ways so I always love to share about them!

And now onto the Nordstrom sale:

I popped out of bed on Thursday morning to check out the sale and honestly, I was kind of disappointed.  I did however order a few basic things that I know I'll wear so here they are if you are interested.

Articles of Society Jeans have been my go-to for the last year or so.  They are so comfy and regular price of $59.  I've been super happy with my 2 pairs so I ordered 2 more!

Articles of Society Distressed denim

Articles of Society frayed hem

I also got this lush tank and this basic long sleeved tee that so many people have raved about.

And lastly I ordered this Zella racerback tank.

I just got new Nikes but I was tempted to get these.

And if you don't have a barefoot dreams blardigan then it's time you order one- you'll love it, I promise!

I guess it's good that I stayed away from any splurge deals, but the sale is young and I still have time to find a few new must- haves!

Prime day deals

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

I remember a few years ago on the first Prime Day it was so disappointing but this year there seems to be such great deals!  Here are just a few things that I have and recommend!

I've been raving about this tanner for a few weeks.  Click here for My favorite sunless tanner ($19.49)  I paid $27.99 for it!

I have a set of wool dryer balls (reg. $24.95) that I use for every load of laundry.  They dry your clothes faster and don't leave any chemicals on your clothes.  You can add essential oils to them or just use them alone.  I do both!

Both of my boys used and loved this duck tub!

And I have a diffuser just like this one.  And it's $13.95 today so it's a perfect diffuser to try if you are just thinking of starting with oils.

So far today I bought these TKees and this oil for eye lashes (more on that soon!)

I'll keep adding as I see deals and as long as naptime lasts!

friday favorites: what I'm wearing this summer

Friday, June 30, 2017

Since it's July 4th weekend the summer sales are going strong so here are some of my faves that I've been wearing!  I'mLOVING  summer and soooo not ready for fall in the stores!

I was staying away from anything off the shoulder for strapless bra reasons but I dug back in my bra drawer and found one that I had in the right size, who knew!  So bring on the one shoulders and off the shoulder tops and dresses!  (This is what happens when your bra sizes change enormously throughout the last 5 years)

I posted about this top last time but I wore it on my birthday and got compliments from so many people.  It's so cute!

I never have much luck at Loft but I ran in today when I was by myself and I got a few cute tops, on sale with an additional 50% off!

I tried on this top on months ago and wished I got it and there was one hanging on the sale rack in petite but I'm going to make it work! The one I bought isn't online anymore (it has red and blue embroidery) but this is the same just in a different pattern (that I may get too!) ($24.99)

I'm celebrating my strapless bra find with this one shoulder top ($10!)

A few old navy finds that I recently got and am loving:

running shorts (aka wear all day shorts)

And these one shoulder tops are so cute and like $7!  I got it in black and white.

I linked my Stella & dot bracelets above (tan & white) but thought they deserved their own bullet point!

I absolutely love both of these bracelets and I wear one of them almost every day.  They go with everything and make a boring shorts and t-shirt outfit feel a little cuter!  And they're so soft and comfortable.  I can hardly tell I'm even wearing them!

I am obsessed with my sunless tanner.  I put it on yesterday and Christian came home from work and commented on how tan I was (yet totally natural.)  I did learn that 2 days of application made me feel a little too dark- crazy!  So for now I'll apply every 3-4 days to keep up with a nice summer glow!

I posted more about it here. Did you try it?  Let me know what you think!

What are you loving for the summer?  Tell me your summer staples before fall takes over all the stores!!

orange sugar scrub

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Before I use my favorite sunless tanner I always exfoliate and
I love making my own scrub with only 3 ingredients.

Young Living orange essential oil is one of my favorite citrus oils right now so I chose to use that this time.  But you can add any essential oil that you like (grapefruit, lime, peppermint etc.)  But I do really recommend (especially when applying topically) using Young Living because of their seed to seal process so that you know that the oils are 100% therapeutic grade and pure.

So now the quick and easy recipe to make this delicious smelling and moisturizing body scrub...

Orange Organic Sugar Scrub

1 cup organic sugar
1/3 cup organic coconut oil (a little more or less depending on how you think you'd like it)
8-10 drops essential oil

I mix the ingredients in my Kitchen Aid mixer and fill the jars- so simple!
And a little jar lasts a long time.

And try not to eat it when you're in the smells that good!

If you are interested in learning more about Young Living and essential oils I am so happy to talk to you about them.  You can click here for a little more info about how I got started and comment or message me ( and I'll be in touch!

perfectly bronzed

Monday, June 19, 2017

I know I've posted about lots of sunless tanners in the past.  And earlier this year I posted about the towelettes and those were great because the color lasted for a week!  But the application was tough...and 9 times out of 10 I had streaks or missed spots and it was pretty apparent!

And you know I've been trying to switch to more natural options and less chemicals.  And sunless tanner is just gross, right?!

So the other week I saw someone post about this sunless tanner and I read lots of great reviews on amazon.

Then I looked it up on and it's rated a 1 so it is rated as one of the safest!  No brainer!

So now let's talk application.  It is white and thick.  So when I first applied it I felt like it was never going to be absorbed.  So I rubbed and rubbed and eventually just stopped and it absorbed by itself!

The best thing about it being white and thick is that I rubbed it in so much so I could easily see if I missed any spots.  And that means- I have a perfect streaks no white spots!
shorts and sandals linked in my last post

And I can't get over how tan I got after only 1 application.  White shorts are tough for me and I'm happily wearing them now!

Of course we have to talk about the smell, right?!  It smells like vanilla.  Crazy it does not have the sunless tanner smell!  Now I will say that later in the day I did smell it a little but it wasn't terrible.

And one last thing because I obviously have a lot to say about didn't stain my sheets!!  I always apply tanner in the morning and shower to wash it off before bed, but most tanners still stain my sheets...but not this one!

How can you not order it now after that rave review!?  Let me know if you get it and I hope you love it as much as I do!

favorites while at jury duty

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

It takes a day of being summoned for jury duty for me to finally blog again!  So hopefully I don't get called and I can just catch up here and link some things I've been loving lately!

***How crazy is this?!?!?  The courthouse has blocked "shopping" sites so I can't get on Old Navy, American Eagle, Nordstrom and Target so I'll fix those links tonight!

I finally found white jeans that I actually like and they're only $44!  They aren't sheer and actually pretty flattering and I've never said that about any white jeans.

And I love this embroidered top with them.

I almost bought the same embroidered dress too because I love it.

And since this is pretty much a J.Crew Factory (somehow they slipped through the courthouse no shopping rule!) post I might as well link the denim shorts I've been loving too.  They are so soft and comfy, but size down.  I also got them in white, but haven't worn them yet.

Every time I wear these slides someone comments on wanting them.  And they're so cheap and comfy!  Highly recommend.

I'm having such a hard time with swim suits, of course.  I'm all for one pieces with cutouts but it's been a struggle finding one that fits.  This Old Navy suit is super flattering when you're standing up, but the second I sit down the cut out gapes open, exposing everything!  I'm hoping a seamstress can sew in cups and figure out a way to keep it closed because I really like it.

I'm tempted to order this one and this one (from AE) is so cute and flattering but there is virtually no butt coverage.  I tried it on in the store and the size was too big- so I keep thinking that maybe if I got it in the right size it could work.  It's only $30 so I keep thinking about it!

And right now I have like 4 dresses in my Old Navy cart but of course, I can't link them or show you pics...

And if you follow me on Instagram (@pagmina_oils) you know that I'm loving essential oils!  I unintentionally started helping others get into them too.  I use them for pretty much everything and love how they can help our family in so many ways!

So I've now been sitting here for almost 2 hours and they haven't called anyone back yet!!!  I need a iced coffee stat.  And I refuse to get a vending machine coffee.  Come on lunch break or better yet...send me home!!!!

Thanks for reading, girls!  I hope to get back to the space more often!

My favorite TOMS on sale

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

My favorite TOMS are 20% off right now!  I just ordered another pair in the light gray.  I love the Avalon style- they are so comfy and fit me better than the original TOMS.

 Mine should arrive today!!

Essential Oils Make & Take

Wednesday, March 8, 2017

In the past few months it seems everyone around me is talking about essential oils but most of them haven't tried them.  Oils have been a part of our life for about 3 years and I truly love using them.
The biggest reason I love oils so much is because no matter the problem you feel like you are doing something to treat it or prevent it naturally.  The worst is being a mom and seeing one of your kids hurting or sick and you feel helpless.  But with oils you are armed with a bunch of ways you can support your whole family.

After talking about them to so many people and truly believing in them I decided to step out of my comfort zone (big time) and host a make & take so that some girls could try a few oils.  I feared that it would seem "sales-y" so I was very clear that no one had to buy anything.  One thing I really hate is feeling like you have to buy something.

So I made a little chalkboard with recipes (inpired by @jlgarvin) and set out what they needed to make 2 roller balls and a linen spray.

The girls loved it and were so excited about oils!

I decided if I am going to promote these oils I should be able to support anyone who starts using them.  So I started a new IG where I will only post about how I use oils (@pagmina_oils) and I updated the tab at the top of my blog with more info about where to buy supplies and a link if you want to order oils through me.

I'm even hosting another make & take this weekend!  Let me know if you are local and want to come!
If you are interested I would be so happy to share the ways I use them with you!

donuts at market

Friday, February 10, 2017

Reid earned a reward after weeks of bribing him to tell us when he needed a new diaper.  One morning he woke up and told Christian right away.  So off to Market we went!  Of course Carter got the reward too because...donuts!!!

After Reid finished his donut he was looking out the window and admiring the fire escapes on the buildings across the alley.  He was obsessed.

Carter & I are totally ready to spend another Tuesday morning at Market.
Now Reid just has to reach the next goal...

Show & Tell Tuesday: Splurge vs Steal

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

After my blogging hiatus I thought it would be fun to do some link ups this week!
And Show & Tell Tuesday: Steal vs Splurge is right up my alley!

I like to think I'm pretty smart with money and I'm always looking for the best way to buy something and save the most, of course!

So that is a pre-cursor to my splurges- spoiler alert: I probably got a good deal on them too!

Some of my rules for shopping.

1. Never pay full price

2.  Never paying for shipping

3. Make sure you definitely will keep it if it's not free returns or don't buy it if it's not free returns

4. Use ebates

***I've even trained my husband although he still struggles with the no free returns policy.

Let's start with the ways we save $.

  • When it comes to groceries, home essentials etc I always compare prices and buy the least expensive (except PB- Christian is Peter Pan loyal!)  Since I stay at home I have the luxury of time so I know where to get the best deals for most of what we buy so I don't shop exclusively at one store- we frequently go to multiple stores each week (Target, Walmart, Costco, BJs, and our local grocery stores)  Not only does it save us money but also gives us activities to fill the hours!

  • We live 2 minutes from an outlet mall with J.Crew, Gap, Banana Factory so it's so quick and easy to run there.  And I get e-mails all the time with extra coupons.  So although I've been wanting the UGG slippers that were everywhere around Christmas instead I just got a new pair of Gap Factory slippers on sale, with an extra 50% and then a 30% off coupon so I paid $3.86.   Also this week I got a black puffer vest, regularly $64.99 for $10.38.   Deals like that just make my day!

  • As much as I'd love a pair of Rag & Bone jeans, I just can't justify spending that much right now so instead I found $59 jeans at Nordstrom that are so comfy and I actually really love them.
Image result for rules for shopping
  • Most of my other shopping is online so Ebates is my best friend.  I can't recommend it enough.  I have the cash back button in my tool bar so as soon as I go to a website it pops up reminding me to sign in with ebates then I click it and that's all I do!  You get a percentage off of your purchases back in cash.  Free money!  Why wouldn't you do it?!  I'd love if you'd use my link if you want to sign up.  I get some cash for referring you and you get $10.

And now for the splurges:

  • I go by the "cost per wear" equation!  I got a new pair of quilted UGGs this year and they were on sale, but still $191.  But knowing my current day-to-day lifestyle I knew I would wear them a ton and I just prefer UGGs over some other less expensive boots.

  • And my Hunters- totally worth it!  I know I could've gotten much less expensive rain boots- but I look forward to putting them on whenever it rains.  (And...mine are from Costco a few years ago- and were less than $100!)  It's been so rainy lately that I'm thinking I may need to add a pair of red Hunters for variety!

  • A piece of clothing that I really love or a classic staple.  White lacy blouses are my thing.  I can't have enough and if I see one that I love- I buy it.  This year I also got a leather jacket at the Nordstrom sale- totally a splurge but since it's a closet staple I talked myself into keeping it.

  • Jackets and some clothes for my kids- especially now that Carter's are handed down to Reid- I'll buy him North Face or good quality coats since they'll last for years.  I also splurge and get them a few cute Boden tops or more expensive tops so that they'll have a few cute outfits for pictures and holidays.   Otherwise their play clothes are not expensive.

In other areas I'm pretty balanced.  My skincare is a mix of Rodan & Fields  and Burt's Bees.  My make-up is a mix- Nars tinted moisturizer and MAC eye shadows but Maybelline mascara & NYX lipgloss

And my coffee- I love Starbucks but don't have it everyday.  And although a latte is my favorite, I usually only get a coffee and save the extra $2.

I realize I could go on and on about this topic---how about you?

What are  your secrets for saving?!

Post-Weaning Depression

Friday, January 6, 2017

I took a bit of a break from my blog.  It was not intentional.  I just had no inspiration or creativity or desire to share.

It all started in October when I decided it was time to wean Reid.  He was, after all 23 months old.  There were a few days when I was actually kind of annoyed that I had to nurse him before nap and just felt like I was over it.  So one day he went down without nursing and we never looked back.  Those first few days were freeing.

But 4 days later I started seeing spots and felt dizzy.  I thought it was from not drinking enough water or the start of an ocular migraine (which I had in the spring.)  And that was the start of daily headaches, insomnia, seeing spots, shoulders so stiff they ached day and night, hundreds of google searches trying to figure out what was wrong with me, and days when I didn't want to get out of bed to deal with my children.

There was very little I could find but a few blogs or articles from girls who seemed to have the same symptoms after weaning.

I definitely connected it to hormones.  So my OB prescribed me a pill.  But a week or so later I had a migraine so bad I called Christian at work to come home.  And decided it was finally time I went to the family doctor.  She prescribed a pain medication and we discussed possible anxiety but a few days later the pain meds weren't helping and I had come to the conclusion that I was definitely having anxiety (thank you google.)

My breaking point also occurred the day after Carter fell head first off of the monkey bars.  I was sure he had a concussion. (He didn't.) Then a few hours later Carter jumped on the couch and landed on Reid and then Reid couldn't move his arm.  After a 2 hour urgent care visit we luckily realized it was another case of nursemaid's elbow.  But my head was pounding so hard and my shoulders were so stiff that I knew it was time to see my doctor.

I started on an anti-depressant as many of those girls I had found had too.  And within days I felt normal again.  My shoulders were better, my headaches went away, I started enjoying my boys again and feeling less burdened.

I had never been on any medications before and I was resistant at first, but I am so glad I finally decided to give them a try.

It's been about 3 months since the start of this and I am sure that this was all connected to weaning.  Although my doctors won't call it Post-Weaning Depression or Post- Weaning Anxiety I truly think it is.  And I so wish there was more about this so girls like me can figure it out sooner and not feel like I did for 6 weeks- just waiting to snap out of it.

I didn't cry and I didn't feel sad, but my other physical symptoms were obviously how I reacted to my body no longer producing those feel-good hormones from nursing.

My friends have noticed a change in me and I feel so much better.  I know some people are against medications but they truly helped me and I'm not ashamed of it.

Thank you to the sweet girls who checked on me and was wondering where I was.   I'll be back to blogging again soon, hopefully very soon.  And please share this if you know a mom who is weaning or just stopped nursing and is struggling.  I think there are more of us going through this than we know.

***Just a side note- I did not have any of these symptoms when I weaned Carter at 16 months.  I wrote about my nursing and weaning with him here.
